NYC full band SHOW - 12.8.11

Kayte Grace @ Sidewalk Cafe

October 6, 2011

Hi guys,

Something beautiful happened today! Ceil Horowitz, an amazing painter that I met once in JFK airport (lol) began an oil painting of me while I sang to strangers in Union Square for 3 hours! :) Click HERE to visit Ceil's website.

Taken by a kind stranger :)

It's coming along beautifully!

I got to meet and sing for babies, college kids, grandpas, puppeteers, models, tourists, checkers-players, business people, homeless people, people watchers and picture takers ... Oh! And did I mention a man walked up to me while I was singing and gave me FLOWERS and that another girl who was listening pulled out a sketchpad and started drawing me too?! Haha, 'twas a good day.

Beautiful things.

Happy Fall beautiful people!

... Although today in NYC it's almost 80 degrees :) How've you been? I've been busy making porkchops and watching Community (I'm hooked)and booking shows and there've been some super fun shows recently - my first full band show (with the astounding Dang-it Bobbys) at Gavin Degraw's National Underground, a show at the famous Bitter End, where a hoard of my amazing friends came out and sang and clapped and stomped along with me, and Bar Thalia (on the Upper West Side) where I got to make friends with an amazing YouTube fan who came from Brooklyn to see me.

So, I have some exciting "first" shows coming up! My first COLLEGE show is in Utica, NY this Thursday night and my first FESTIVAL is in Greenville, SC on October 15th. Check out the fliers and head over to "Shows" for more details!

Hello gorgeous people,

Guess what? I have a weekly gig at my favorite cafe! It's called Society Coffee and it's an amazing place.

Society Coffee

Photobucket alt="Photobucket">

I've always wanted to be a "regular" at a place like this - a place where I know the baristas, and where the mochas are delicious, and where my friends and I can stay for hours and talk and work and eat, and where I can befriend strangers and we can share stories. It's lovely.

I perform every Saturday from noon to 1pm. Come hang :) It's a great time!

In fact, I have lots of shows coming up - click on "shows" and check out the details. National Underground - July 27th @ 8pm!

Enjoy your Friday!

Love,
Kayte

Happy Thursday Gorgeous People!

I have a few things to catch you up on! First of all, guess what?! A magazine called StarCentral nominated me for "Breakout Star of the Year!" ... crazy! I'd win $1,000 and get to grace the cover of their magazine :) The contest is ongoing until December. Each week the person with the least votes is out. The person with the most votes in each pool (I'm in Pool #2) gets 50 points towards the next week, making it easier to sustain momentum ...... I'm in 4th place right now, but only have 12 votes less than Huu, who's in 1st! I'd LOVE it if you could vote for me: VOTE HERE!
... you can only vote once per day, so no need to sit near the computer all day or anything :P Thank you beautiful people ? so, SO much! You're wonderful!

Ok, now for thing #2: I was invited to fly (with Kevin "guitar prodigy" Plybon, of course) from NYC to Augusta, Georgia a few weekends ago to be the featured guest performer at several events during the Augusta Parntership for Children's annual "Children's Week." It's an awesome week of community and family activities and forums.

There was an article in the Augusta Chronicle about my music, an interview on the NBC Augusta news, ABC Augusta, a few performances, and we got to open the night and be on the judging panel of a talent competition! (And we ate some pretty earthshaking seafood at a restaurant where you're encouraged to write on the walls) What a beautiful weekend!

here are the interviews and the link to the article:

I hope that you're doing beautifully well! Thanks for all of the love and support!

Spread the music, Love, Kayte Grace

I'm on TOUR!!! Ah! I'm travelling with Kevin Plybon (acoustic/percussion), Sy Hoekstra (electric/percussion/ukelele) and Scott Plybon (bass)! We've been on the road for two weeks now and having the time of our lives, making our way out to San Francisco. We're in Nashville and last night we got to sit in for 3 songs on my genius cousin Reggie Wooten's weekly set at 3rd & Lindsley. I was so blown away by everyone there. Tonight I get to do a set at Victor Wooten's famous bass camp! I cannot wait.

So now it's off to get some epic bbq for lunch and then head out to the woods to see Vic!

Check out this performance video from our show a few shows ago in Williamsburg, VA:

Happy Friday beautiful people! I hope you're doing well. I slept in today (no class on Fridays!) and had leftover Thai food for breakfast. Yum. I have a show tonight at Postcrypt Coffeehouse that I'm super excited about. It's an awesome, intimate venue with no mics or amplification. Truly acoustic. Check out the details under "Shows" and I'll see you there.

Also, go to the "Pics" page and check out the poster for Rocktoberfest, a show that I have coming up on October 17th in Annapolis, MD and a picture of me and Braddigan, the frontman of Dispatch after I opened a show for him!

Oh, and one more thing ... a friend showed me this website that I think is hilarious. Go to: www.accidentalfresh.com !

Well ... that's all. Talk to you soon :)

September 7, 2009

The ROCKumentary is officially completed! I wanted everyone to see a few clips of life on the road during my first tour. Check out the video either on the home page (here on my website) or on YouTube.

I hope you've all been living beautifully. For those of us in school (or working or anything else), let's start off strong. I've resolved to focus on the little things this year - getting sleep, being more observant so that I can write better music, studying hard, being a better friend ... that sort of thing. Let's have a glorious September. Talk to you soon.

August 28, 2009

Last night I went to The Treehouse (an amazing recording studio owned by Brock McGoff, a friend of mine, who recorded the "Soaked You In" EP) and laid down some vocals for "Written On." It's the first new song that I've recorded since the EP and I can't wait for it to be finished so you all can hear it. The EP was super acoustic, but this'll be a full arrangement with drums, electric and acoustic guitar, bass ... all that stuff.

While I was there, Brock and I started brainstorming about ... drumroll ... my first full album! Yay. I have lots of scheming and strategizing to do. I told him I'd come back to the Treehouse with one of those elaborate hand-drawn maps that kids in movies roll out before their mischievous friends detailing the plan for world takeover or whatever.

Oh, yea, so welcome to my blog everyone! Keep checking back and I'll keep you up to date on the music and other random fun stuff.

Happy Friday!
